Q: What is a clone?
A: A clone is simply a saved Diablo II character that is downloaded from a website. Their intention is to demonstrate a good dueling setup so that others may improve.

Q: How do I download a clone?
A: On the main page of ShadowDiablo, there is a list of clones available for download. When you find a clone you would like to use, click on that clone's name or the image to begin the download. Save it to your computer. Do not change the name of the file. This will only give you errors when you try to open the character in Diablo II.

Q: How do I use a clone?
A: Read the How to Install a Clone page for instructions on how to use a clone.

Q: How do I change the character's name?
A: Changing the character's name requires a Hero Editor. You can download one from the Other Downloads section. With it, you can easily change the name of any character.

Q: What does "Legit" and "Hacked" characters mean?
A: Legit clones are ones that have no hacked gear on them; each item on the character can be found in game from monsters. Hacked characters have items that have been modified by a Hero Editor and usually have excessive attributes.

Q: Can I use a clone to duel people?
A: It is highly frowned upon to use anything other than your own character to duel. However, there is no way we can prevent you from using a clone in game. Do realize that most clones are not meant to be top dueling characters but are intended to teach or demonstrate how to improve on a certain dueling aspect.

Q: Can I use clones on closed battle.net?
A: No. Clones can only be used on Open Battle.net and Single Player. Closed Battle.net characters are saved on Blizzard servers so there is no way to access the files or copy clones onto them.

Q: How do I edit Diablo II Characters?
A: There is a program called Hero Editor that allows you to edit all Diablo II character aspects. It can be downloaded from our Other Downloads section.

Q: How can I get help with editing my character?
A: Register an account at our Forums and make a topic with the details of your problem. Our Diablo II specialists will help you with anything you need.
