When you download a clone, you will receive a file with the
d2s extension. That is a Diablo II character. You can access this file via Hero Editor just like other Diablo II characters. Using this clone in game is a matter of placing the downloaded file into a certain folder.
- Download a clone off of the website (do not open the file at this time). When downloading, save the file to your computer; do not try to open it.
- Go to the Start Menu and click on Run.
- Type in "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\save" into the small window that appears. You must include the quotes.
- A window will open. Copy or move the downloaded file into this directory.
- If Diablo II is running, restart Diablo II and the clone should appear in the Single Player and Open Battle.net character menu.
If these instructions do not work for you, try the following instructions.
*These instructions are the same process, just done differently.*
- Open up My Computer by going to the Start Menu and clicking on My Computer.
- Go into your Local Drive, usually labeled as the C drive.
- Go into the Program Files folder. If you are asked if you are sure you want to access this directory, click the Continue Anyway link.
- Find the folder named Diablo II and open it.
- Inside your Diablo II folder should be another folder named save. Open this directory.
- Paste the downloaded file into this directory and restart Diablo II if it is running.
These instructions vary depending on operating system and where you installed your Diablo II game.
